The WIRA Digital Thickness Gauge (see page 31 for fulldescription) is available with specific nonwoven standard test kits as follows:

Nonwovens:

Order Code UTG:NW Includes presser foot and reference plate.

Geotextiles:

Order Code UTG:GEO Includes Presser foot, reference plate, guard ring and set of weights to produce pressures of 2, 20, and 200 kPa. Accessory kits are available for floor coverings and other specialist applications.

WIRA Thickness Gauge for bulky Nonwovens up to 20 mm

Bulky nonwovens are defined as those that compress by more than 20% when tested with pressures of 0.1 kPa and 0.5 kPa. Examples include wadding and high-loft proucts. Bulky Non wovens up to a maximum thickness of 20 mm should be tested on this apparatus. The specimen is held vertically between a vertical reference plate and a presser foot by means of a clamp. The hand screw is turned to adjust the presser foot until the pressure exerted on the sample is 0.02kPa. This is indicated by illuminating a light.
