Wira Fibre Diagram Machine

Category
  • The most convenient and cost-effective way to determine fibre length distribution
  • Popular with processors of natural and man-made fibres

The new generation Wira Fibre Diagram Machine provides a cost effective way for fibre processors to determine their own fibre length distribution. The well-known and popular instrument is universally suited to processors
of natural and synthetic fibres. The new generation instrument incorporates a colour touch screen interface, making the operation even easier. The on-board processor automatically controls the operation of the instrument, calculating the results and displaying the fibre diagram. Results can be relayed to a PC via the network connection.

  • IWTO method of test
  • Automatically produces fibre length diagram and results in under a minute
  • Instant display of results
  • Automatic fibre transport
  • Colour touch screen
  • Easy to operate
  • Network connection for data transfer and storage of results
  • No separate computer required.
  • Applicable to many fibre types

Test Method

The sample to be tested is clamped in the sealing unit. A squared end is then produced by removing the protruding fibres with a special grip. The squared ends of the fibres are bonded to a strip of plastic tape and
gently pulled away. Once the fibre draw has been prepared from a sample of top, the testing operation is automatic. The machine transports the fibre draw through the measuring head and simultaneously records the data. The mean fibre length, longest fibre, CV and SD are calculated and displayed together with the graph of the fibre diagram. The WIRA Fibre Diagram Machine test is approved by the International Wool Textile Organisation, as detailed in publication IWTO DTM-16-2002 “Method of test for wool fibre length using a Wira Fibre Diagram Machine.
