The WIRA Fibre Opener provides a convenient, efficient and reliable means of preparing fibre samples, for subsequent analysis.

A feed-roller arrangement presents the fibre to a highspeed cylinder. The fibre is then transferred and dispersed into an air chamber before being collected in a sample bin.

The combination of mechanical and pneumatic means of opening, separating and mixing the fibres, results in a truly randomised sample, thereby allowing more accurate and reproducible measurement.

The unit allows the air current to be adjusted whilst an in-built static eliminator prevents the build-up of static electricity, which can occur with some fibre types.

The option of variable speed control enables the machine to be easily adjusted to individual requirements. A trash collection chamber located beneath the machine collects vegetable matter and impurities to be analysed.

The WIRA Fibre Opener canbe used in a number of applications including:

• Preparation of samples for physical testing
• Removal of trash and impurities, for analysis
• Sample de-hairing of cashmere and other specialised fibres
• General opening of samples for the purpose of assessment of yield, colour, oil content etc.

The unit is fully enclosed and is of compact construction.
