Measures aggregate tension in a 127mm wide group of warp threads The WIRA Warp Tension Meter is designed to measure the tension in the warp yarns of a loom during the normal weaving operation. The measuring head comprises two fi xed guides with a centrally mounted cantilever arm on to which are bonded silicon strain gauges. It measures the aggregate tension in a 127mm wide group of warp threads and is used in the loom either between the beam and the back rail or between the back rail and lease rods or droppers. Electrical damping is incorporated in the instrument to ensure a steady reading of average tension up to a maximum of 50kg. The device can be easily moved from one loom to another without stopping the looms.
